This book by Brian Lingard FRIBA is about his first fifteen years in private architectural practice, which commenced in 1950 shortly after completing his studies at architectural school. During those early years he designed and built over one hundred one-off houses on individual sites for particular families and the book features some sixty of those houses, illustrated by photographs taken at the time of occupation and accompanied by stories of the problems and pleasures associated with the creation of each of these Special Houses for Special People.
